Czech Republic

Together with his team, leading Czech environmentalist and cofounder of Nadace Partnerství, Miroslav Kundrata, will share their perspectives on the state of the nation’s trees.  The Brno-based organisation provides financial support, education and help for people and communities who take responsibility for caring for the environment. We will hear about the history of Czech forestry, the challenges from the bark beetle, other invasive and threats to our trees.  They will share stories about this country’s long and interesting tree heritage supported by photos. Nadace Partnerství will explain their work in creating “partnerships for nature” and propose ways in which we can actively and practically support the organisation’s tree planting programme.

We will also have a presentation by our new member Matej Keka on a new project for our club called Speechless Reconcilaition. It targets the reconcilaition of communities from six former Yugoslavian countries and this by means of a summer camp in the Czech Republic for teenagers from orphanages in these six countries. The children will take part in activities designed to encourage them to cooperate and reach new levels of mutual understanding, and we particularly want to inspire these young kids with some new ideas and viewpoints that can motivate them to pursue good causes and ethical leadership in their professional or personal lives. It is planned that the project will be done with local Rotary clubs from these six countries.

This meeting will be held online on Zoom.
