Dagmar visited RCPI this week and delivered a fascinating insight into the work of the The Česká spořitelna Foundation. The foundation started its work in 2002 and has a substantial capital base of 501,000,000 CZK which allows it to distribute over 17m CZK per year in three strategic areas.

  • We believe that active ageing requires an environment that is age-friendly, allowing older people stay active and independent in their homes
  • and communities.
  • We are known for our long-term engagement in prevention and treatment of substance abuse and its support to the largest organizations which effectively deal with the drug phenomenon. Programs of our partner organizations motivate drug addicts in being able to use own strengths and will for accepting professional help and treatment leading to their ultimate cure – that is to ultimate return to “normal” drug-free life, where they would work, study, live in normal partnerships and raise their children.
  • We at the Foundation realize that the biased view of people with mental handicaps needs to be removed so they can be successfully integrated into society, and therefore – through the projects we support – we want to appeal to society to open up “to those others”.
Dagmar explained the philosophy of long term support to organisations and highlighted cases where the engagement has been in place for over 20 years and thus makes a significant long term difference.
Petr Smejcky, President of RCPI, thanked Dagmar for a very insightful and interesting presentation. RCPI is looking forward to collaborating with The Česká spořitelna Foundation.
