Linda chaired the Rotary Club meeting held yesterday in the Barcelo whilst Vlasta and other club members were on their way to Bristol in the UK to join up with our partner club. The club remembered September 11th and the wrongs of the world and how Rotary stands for helping and caring. We toasted the Rotary club in Wilmette, USA and exchanged flags with the visiting members. Lara, one of the two exchange students was welcomed and Irena reminded the members of the scale of the youth exchange programme: 10 months with 3 host families in a foreign country, learning the language, going to school and joining in local 'living'. The programme is very active with 69 students sent from our district to other countries in the world and 62 students hosted by our district.

Barcelo Old Town Praha will be the formal home of the Rotary Club of Prague International. The hotel has agreed to become the formal mailing address and there are currently discussions with the owners regarding placing a shield on the outside. A big thanks to Barcelo and the management and staff who look after us so well!

Mamun has won yet more accolades for his Restaurant with a full page review in a local newspaper. This comes most timely since the Indian Curry week starts on the 29th where we deliver meals to businesses at lunchtime and send the profits to help educational projects in India. See the website for more details. Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help with the fund raising event.

Melanie enthralled members with her presentation of volunteering and her work with NGOs as part of her application to join the club as a full member.

Irena updated the club by explaining the election process for the 11 Directors who support the Rotary President at a world wide level.

And, as usual, lots of conversation, good food and hearty Czech beer!
